Even coming home turned out to be an adventure!
I feel a bit like Lucy Honeychurch from A Room with A View ("Dear Charlotte, After our luggage went missing not once, but twice, we reached Florence.") In my case, my flight from Florence to Frankfurt was diverted to Pisa, so we all hopped on a pullman, rode to Pisa and flew to Frankfurt. However, I missed my connection to San Francisco, and Lufthansa was kind enough to put the passengers up in the Frankfurt InterCity Airport Hotel for the night, including free dinner, breakfast and shuttle to the airport.
